| Short information about our Society |
Szczecinskie Towarzystwo Milosników Komunikacji Miejskiej (Szczecin Public Transport Fans' Society) was established in November 1998 by 15 tram fans. In December 1999 the society was registered in the court.
But earlier, on 19th December 1998, the society had organised the first official journey. In Szczecin at that time existed only one historical tramcar type 4N (no 216), which had been reconstructed by Szczecin Public Transport Company (MZK) in 1995. The first great celebration organised by the society was set up in September 1999 in cooperation with Szczecin Public Transport Company (MZK), Szczecin Public Transport Authorities (ZKM) and Szczecin-Police Transport Company (SPPK). There was the biggest in the last 50 years tram parade which was observed by more than one thousand city dwellers and tram fans. Since that time, our society has organised many special journeys by tramcars as well as by buses.
The collection of historical tramcars has risen up to 5 operating vehicles. In July 2001 the oldest tramcar type Bremen (no 144, built in 1926) was put in motion. All the remaining tramcars are type N. In following years other historical tramcars should be reconstructed or taken over. Our society is also interested in old buses. However, when we were starting our undertaking we had no historical buses. Thanks to engagement of the members of the society and help of many organisations, already in September 2001 the first bus type Jelcz 043 (built in 1978) was reconstructed. In February 2016 we also got the Autosan H9-35 bus (built in 1991). Here you can find more about our buses.

The society has nowadays nearly 40 members. The main task of the society is popularisation of the history of public transport in Szczecin as well as saving and preservation of historical tramcars and buses. Our board consists of 3 - 7 people, who are elected for 2 years. The work of the society is controlled by 3 inspectors.
